Today is President’s Day, and in honor of this national holiday, I begin this week’s list with a presidential fact.

The first woman to run for the office of U.S. president was Victoria Woodhull in 1872. She ran as the candidate from the Equal Rights Party with running mate Frederick Douglass and lost to Ulysses S. Grant.
