Growing Interest In National Face Coverings Policy

National Retail Federation President and CEO Matthew Shay joined with leaders from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Business Roundtable and the National Association of Manufacturers to send a joint letter calling for a consistent national policy for individuals to wear face coverings when in public. The letter requests a clear national policy to be implemented and enforced locally based upon appropriate public health metrics. Mandatory policies must be simple and not impose public enforcement responsibilities upon businesses, nonprofits and their employees. Finally, businesses and nonprofits must not be held liable for refusing entry or services to anyone not in compliance with face covering requirements. The letter was sent to President Trump and Vice President Pence as well as the leadership of the National Governors Association.
