I’m Grinding All Day… So Why Isn’t the Business Moving?

The day starts fast. There's no moment to sit down and plan it out. It just begins. Texts, calls, issues—handling, responding, juggling, doing what needs to be done.

By the end of the day, you're fried.

Worst of all, you know you didn't get it all done. There were calls left not returned, complaints left unanswered, and it doesn't go away. It carries into tomorrow.

And for all the work, it doesn’t feel like anything actually moved.

That’s the frustration right there.

Think about it like this.

An old friend is coming over. Someone you haven’t seen in a long time.

And you’re already behind.

You’re outside trying to get the grill going. You run back in, wiping down the counter, shoving things into a drawer. The trash is full. The floor needs a quick pass. You keep seeing one more thing.

And the clock isn’t slowing down.

You know you’re not going to get it all done.

And it hits you.

They didn’t come to see your yard.

They didn’t come to see your house.

They came to spend time with you.

And you’ve been working on everything else.

That’s exactly how most days in business actually go.

I’m busy all day doing work that needs done… but not the work the business needs from me right now.

"There is nothing quite so useless as doing with great efficiency what should not be done by you."— Rick Slark

The fact of the matter is, you get no more time.

So the question isn’t how do I get more done with the time I have. It’s how do I make sure I’m doing the right work.

That starts with two questions.

1. What does the business actually need from me right now?

Not what’s in front of you. Not what showed up this morning. What does the business need from you.

2. How does everything else get done… without me doing it?

Because it still needs to get done. But it doesn’t all need to be done by you.

That’s the shift.

If you can answer those two questions honestly, things start to change.

If you can’t, you’ll stay right where you are—busy, tired, and still not getting to what matters.

If this feels familiar—if you’re putting in the effort but things aren’t moving—there’s usually a specific area creating that friction.

That’s what I work through in a 60-minute Direction Session. We step back, look at your business as a whole, and identify what’s actually getting in the way and what to do next.

The session is $150. If you want that kind of clarity, you can book here.
